Kingsland Project

Project Description

Nestled in the heart of Calgary’s Kingsland neighborhood, this home is especially near and dear to our hearts. It's the home of Floorscapes owner, Bryce! As such, it was especially challenging to decide on materials and colours. It’s easy to make suggestions to others and harder to know what you’d want to live with for years! But we prevailed, and happily so.

Site-finished ipé floors were used throughout the main floor and on the stairs. The wood was finished with low-lustre Rubio oil, which we also used on all the wood cabinetry and interior doors. We are quite pleased with its natural, warm look. Oh, and we shouldn’t forget to mention that our installers did a fine job of installing the herringbone in the library area.

Oversized tile is found throughout the home, especially the 24″ x 48″ format used in the laundry room. What do you think? The guest bathroom tile demonstrates the effect of a bold colour against a neutral background.

The steam shower is the piéce de resistance. The design incorporates two rain head showers, a stand-alone tub, heated floors, benches, and walls. Thanks to Schluter waterproofing systems and barrier free entry, this spa is thoroughly waterproofed and will probably outlast its occupants.
